Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Know Your Charging Options

Charging of your electric vehicle plays a key role in driving an energy efficient EV. Whether you already drive an electric vehicle or are in the market to purchase one, it is important to know your options in order to choose the right charging station for your home or business.

Most customers do not realize that every new EV is sold with a standard Level 1 charging station. It conveniently can be plugged into a standard household 110-volt grounded wall outlet and usually does not require any electrical work or upgrade to your utility panel. Although, a standard Level 1 charging station will only delivery about 5 miles per hour of charge.

A large majority of buyers choose to install a Level 2 charging station.  Level 2 charging stations can provide approximately 25 miles per hour of charge. This upgrade to a Level 2 charging station charges four times faster than the standard Level 1 charger. This is where High Mountain Electric’s services come in. The Level 2 charging station requires a licensed electrician to install a 240-volt outlet on a dedicated circuit. In some cases, a permit may be required.

If you are looking for a longer electric driving range or would like a faster charge, a Level 2 charging station is a great option for your residential or commercial property. Our electricians are experienced in installing a variety of top brand chargers such as Tesla, JuiceBox and ChargePoint.
